MythWalker Goes to LA Times Festival of Books

The MythWalker team is back at events after a busy start to 2025, and we’d like to tell you all about our most recent adventure in Los Angeles!

If you’re new to MythWalker, story is foundational to the game. We’ve strived to reach audiences interested in our deep lore, and so when we learned about the LA Times Festival of Books, we knew it was a perfect fit. Our success there in 2024 had us jumping at the opportunity to attend again this year. Spoiler, but some attendees even remembered us!

Our crew, consisting of game designers, artists, marketers, and production folks, arrived in LA to set up our booth. The weather was not on our side day one. Long story short, there was a torrential downpour, but the team persevered. We luckily had a booth with stone underneath and a covered tent, which saved our lovely bookmarks and merch from a soggy fate.

The rain eventually subsided, and our team got to work talking about and demoing MythWalker to attendees. Hundreds stopped by to hear us out, so thank you for that if you’re reading this!

The weekend’s star: our concept artist Andrea’s dragon puppet/cosplay. It drew so many people in and gave us the perfect segway to pitching the game. Kids loved it, along with the many adults who complimented her fantastic craftsmanship. Shout out to Andrea for wearing out her shoulder for us!

We also did something a little different from our typical event demos: a scavenger hunt! Our team was scattered around the beautiful USC campus, with each person possessing a unique stamp. We challenged participants to find them all; and find them they did. Nearly 200 people completed the hunt, and like our lovely dragon puppet, it was a huge success with kids and their families. They were so excited to get their unique bookmarks and prizes!

Speaking of which, we cannot forget to shout out our marketing artist Kelsi for the gorgeous bookmark designs. They were key in our initial promotions, and attendees absolutely loved them. We even had one kid ask if these were special “premium bookmarks.”

Thank you to the rest of our devs that helped, the LA Times Festival of Books organizers, and everyone else who supported MythWalker that weekend. We can’t wait to showcase MythWalker at more events!

That about wraps up our LA adventure! Stay tuned for more news coming these next few months. We have so much more content and features in store for MythWalker, and we cannot wait for our players, longtime and new, to experience it.

Until next time,
Laura and the MythWalker Team
